They are very different than any fruit you've probably ever had.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;How to Cut a Pomegranate&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Step 1: Cut the Top and Bottom&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First thing you want to do, is cut a small slice off the top and the bottom of the pom (as they are often called from those that love them.) You want to get a bowl and fill it up about halfway or a quarter with water. Now you are going to pull out all the seeds from the surrounding pulp.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you don't do it in a bowl of water, you are going to stain anything thing that the juice touches.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Step 4: Scoop out the Seeds!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oce6YVDcK8U/SRa6V9ILcII/AAAAAAAAAJ8/mnq92mbYzFg/s1600-h/Pom4.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 242px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oce6YVDcK8U/SRa6V9ILcII/AAAAAAAAAJ8/mnq92mbYzFg/s320/Pom4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5266601700605259906" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The other reason we do it in a bowl of water, is because the seeds will sink and the pulp will float.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now you can just scoop out the pulp and strain the water to get the yummy seeds!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Step 5: Eat 'em Straight Up or Juice 'em!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can eat the arils by themselves, throw them in a salad, or juice them...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; If you eat them alone, you are going to get a lot of seed. That's why a lot of people like to juice them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you do juice them, combine it with something like apple. Pure pomegranate juice is good, but really intense. Intense in a good way, but it's nice to mix it up... Also one pomegranate can make a very small amount of juice. The best part of all is that you can store the dough in your fridge for up to 3 weeks, just pulling off as much as you need at a time so that you can have fresh-baked bread at any meal with very little effort!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;Modified from Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day, by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoe Francois&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Ingredients:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 1/2 tablespoons yeast (about 1 1/2 packets)&lt;br /&gt;1 1/2 tablespoons kosher salt&lt;br /&gt;6 1/2 cups whole wheat flour&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Preparation:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In a large plastic resealable container, mix yeast and salt into 3 cups lukewarm water. Using a large spoon, stir in flour, mixing until dough is uniformly moist. Do not knead. Cover, but not with an airtight lid. Let dough rise at room temperature for 2 to 5 hours. Cover securely with plastic lid and store in fridge overnight before baking first loaf. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you’re ready to bake some, tear off as much as you like and put the rest back in the refrigerator. Work dough for a minute, adding flour to prevent sticking as needed. Shape into a ball and place on sheet of parchment. Under each product is a discussion forum. Search for your problem.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;By now, someone has answered your call. Don't tell them your entire  problem. Instead, politely identify yourself, give them the short  version and then say, "would you please escalate this call to a yyy  specialist?" where yyy is the type of problem you have: wireless or  backup or imovie or whatever. Persist.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;When you get a specialist on the line, ask politely for her direct  phone number in case you get disconnected. After you describe your  problem, ask for a case number. If the person isn't being helpful,  politely excuse yourself and start over with a new call.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Apple gets lots and lots of calls. As a result, don't expect the person you're working with to immediately be willing to skip over all  the troubleshooting steps you tried before you called. They have a protocol. It's easier to  just take five minutes to follow that protocol.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;If the specialist you're working with is having trouble figuring  out what to do next, politely say, "I hope you don't mind, but can you  escalate this case to a specialist?" And then wait, patiently, until  they do.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;If your product is less than thirty days old, and you've gone  through the protocol with no success, say, "I'd like an RMA for this  product so I can return it and start with one that works. It's under  the return warranty, right?"&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;If you found lots of examples of the same problem in Google, tell  them. Point out that this "is not an isolated problem" and suggest that  others have solved it by getting a new machine sent to them. Be ready  with links, because the rep has Google too.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Engaging in friendly banter doesn't just help you get what you  want. It makes the call better for you too. These guys aren't your  enemy. In fact, right now, they're the best friend you have in the  whole world.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;This is the one I should have listed first: go to the&lt;a href="http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/" target="_blank"&gt; Genius bar&lt;/a&gt; at your local store.  The guys at the Genius bar are much more likely to just swap out your broken hardware and give you a new machine. It might seem  time-consuming, but it's probably faster than waiting them out on the  phone. Spending $99 on a One to One card is a brilliant investment.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;At least once a minute, say 'thank you.' If you thought about it,  you'd realize that yes, you do mean it. They're being quiet and calm  and trying to help.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;If you own a computer, back it up. If you don't, all bad things are your fault.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;I have no personal experience in begging or sobbing, but I'm told that in some cases, this is effective.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;If you use an email program, clean it out. Regularly. And for all of you amazing folks running in this years Marathon - congratulations on being a rock star!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Spectator Spots: &lt;/span&gt;I&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;f people are going to be cheering for you along the race course, here's how to make sure you see each other:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;          &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Decide the location&lt;/span&gt; or locations a few days before, and make sure they know what wave start you are in.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;          &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Be VERY specific&lt;/span&gt;: Not just "At 72nd St" but "On the northeast corner of 1st &amp; 72nd". Know what side of the street to be on - Runner's Left or Runner's Right.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;          &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Runners will see spectators before spectators see runners.&lt;/span&gt; Know what your spectators are wearing, and make sure your spectators know what you're wearing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;     &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Name on your shirt: Find some way to put your name on the front of your shirt. &lt;/span&gt;There is NOTHING better than having people you don't now yelling your name from the sides of the road, and nothing worse than being anonymous to two million fans screaming out everyone else's name. Magic Marker works best. Duct tape and other tape will fall off once you get sweaty, so if you use that method pin or sew the tape to your shirt as a backup. If you use iron-on letters, test a small area of your shirt first - you don't want to melt your shirt's technical fabric.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;    &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Know how you're getting to the start:&lt;/span&gt; NYRRC is trying to prevent the pre-race traffic jams and is closely coordinating pre-race transportation. Don't wait until the last minute to figure it out.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;    &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Set your Clock Back:&lt;/span&gt; Daylight savings time ends on Saturday night Nov 1st, so you get an extra hour on Sunday morning Nov 2nd! Don't wake up earlier than you have to!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;   &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt; Race morning clothing:&lt;/span&gt; You will be on Staten Island for several hours before the start. Wear cheap, disposable clothing over your marathon outfit to the race start to keep warm, and bring something to read to distract you from your nerves. Once you line up or just after you start, ditch your extra clothing on the bridge. NYRR collects all that clothing for the homeless. JackRabbit has inexpensive disposable Tyvek suits that are wind and waterproof - only $10 and you'll be toasty.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;   &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt; Nutrition:&lt;/span&gt; Make sure you have energy gels that you've tried during one of your training runs. Everybody is different, but as a general rule of thumb figure two gels or 250 calories per hour. If you're going to sweat a lot, you might want to supplement further with electrolyte tablets. Avoid solid foods for at least an hour before race start, and take your first gel 10-15 minutes before race start. Always take gels and tablets with water! Don't forget to gently hydrate before the start, especially if we have unseasonably warm weather - you should not be thirsty when the gun goes off.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;  Hat &amp; Sunglasses:&lt;/span&gt; Whether it's sunny or raining, a hat will ease the tension in your face, making the run more comfortable. If you've been training in the parks, remember it's a lot less shady on the marathon course.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;   &lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt; Post Race Bag:&lt;/span&gt; After the finish, you'll have up to a mile to walk to get to your bag and exit the park. Keep moving, don't stop if you can help it. Put a very comfortable pair of shoes into your post-race bag, along with some easy to digest but substantial food like a Clif bar or banana, along with a drink or maybe a little treat you can look forward to. You'll want a change of shirt, and if it's chilly or drizzly a pair of pants. Put your cellphone in your post-race bag, but realize that you'll have a tough time getting a signal near the finish line.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Rendezvous Points:&lt;/span&gt; If you're meeting folks after the race, pick a spot near where you're supposed to exit the park, but avoid meeting on Central Park West. It's a mob scene. The water needs to be hot, but not boiling. Letting it cool for a few minutes does the trick.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;    * Brew the tea for 1-4 minutes. Leaving it in longer will make it bitter. I brew a bunch and then put it in a thermos&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"That's all it takes. When you read about the beneficial effects on the Japanese they talk about how people drink like 5 cups a day. This is big stuff and it has everything to do with the Paradigm shift needed in health care today.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I recently attended a workshop - taught by Richard Bartlett, Author, D.C., N.D, the guy is fascinating.  (He is not featured in this video) He helped me better understand my views on what needs to change in our current health care system, and it's elegant - a simple &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;shift in focus&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In a nutshell, medical practice is predicated on the treatment of DISEASE not WELLNESS care.  While this may seem like a subtle distinction -  it is huge in it's implications. Your Doctor is trained to see you as a list of symptoms and potential problems.   What you focus on expands.  Despite good intentions - most forms of treatment and therapy reinforce the problem mind-set.
